Southeast Sights

Bateman's Review

Kipling lived from 1902 to 1936 at this beautiful 17th-century house a half mile south of the village. Many of the rooms, including Kipling's study, look as they did when the writer lived here, and you can also see his Rolls Royce. In the garden, a water mill still grinds flour (most Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm). It reopens for a few weeks in December for an Edwardian Christmas decorating event.
