Long Man of Wilmington

Long Man of Wilmington Review

Wilmington, 9 miles southwest of Herstmonceux Castle on A27, has a famous landmark that people drive for miles to see. High on the downs to the south of the village (signposted off A27), a 226-foot-tall white figure, known as the Long Man of Wilmington, is carved into the chalk; he has a staff in each hand. His age is a subject of great debate, but some researchers think he might have originated in Roman times.
