Fodor's Review

Once the home of Victorian novelist William Makepeace Thackeray, this mid-17th-century tile-hung house is now an elegant restaurant known for creative French cuisine. The menu changes daily, but often lists such dishes as beef bourguignonne with watercress, or halibut with marinated fennel and broccoli puree. If you really want to splurge, try the 10-course tasting menu (£98 per person, or £148 with accompanying wines; whole tables only).
