Fodor's Review

The absorbing D-Day Museum in the Southsea district tells the story of the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944, and the invasion's planning and preparation, through an eclectic range of exhibits. The museum's centerpiece is the Overlord Embroidery ("Overlord" was the invasion's code name), a 272-foot-long embroidered cloth with 34 panels illustrating the history of the operation, from the Battle of Britain in 1940 to victory in Normandy in 1944.
