Mompesson House Review
On the north side of Cathedral Close sits one of Britain's most appealing Queen Anne houses, dating from 1701. As the display replicates a typical 18th-century family home, there are no treasures, but highlights include some fine original paneling and plasterwork, an exceptional carved oak staircase, and a fascinating collection of 18th-century drinking glasses. Tea and refreshments are served in a walled garden.
