Hardy's Cottage Review
The small thatch-and-cob cottage, where the writer was born in 1840, was built by his grandfather and is little altered since that time. From here Thomas Hardy would make his daily 6-mile walk to school in Dorchester. Among other things, you can see the desk at which the author completed Far from the Madding Crowd. Access is on foot only, via a woodland walk, or country lane from the parking lot.
