Alexandra Review

Magnificently sited above the Cobb, the family-owned Alexandra combines contemporary decor with the genteel charm of yesteryear. Depending on the cost, some guest rooms in the 18th-century mansion are light, airy, and elegant, while others are purely functional; most rooms have a view over the garden and sea. Informal meals and afternoon teas are served in the Conservatory Restaurant overlooking an expanse of lawn. The formal Alexandra Restaurant has an impressive wine list to complement the fixed-price, four-course dinners (£41.50), featuring such entrées as grilled gilthead bream with a Thai red-chili salsa. A Treatment Room offers massages and facials.
