Chawton
In Chawton you can visit the home of Jane Austen (1775-1817), who lived the last eight years of her life in the village; she moved to Winchester only during her final illness. The site has always drawn literary pilgrims, but with the ongoing release of successful films based on her novels, the town's popularity among visitors has grown enormously.
