Market Place

Market Place Review

A weekly open-air market has been held here for more than 800 years. It's currently held every Saturday, plus Thursday from April to October. Note the market cross, built on the base of a much older cross; the town crier once made his proclamations from here. In the last week of June, this site hosts to the Alnwick Fair, a festival noteworthy for the enthusiastic participation of locals in medieval costumes.
