A lovely location, lake views, and superb service help set this luxurious Edwardian country-house hotel apart. The sumptuous guest rooms have an Arts and Crafts–inspired feel, with William Morris wallpaper, fresh flowers, roll-top tubs, and contemporary art brightening the individually decorated rooms. At the very edge of town, rooms have balconies, some with extensive lake views; you can also relax in the conservatory and look across the grounds to the water. The candlelit restaurant serves sophisticated Modern British fare, and has dramatic views across Lake Windermere and Langdale Pikes.
