Founded in 1458, with a handsome main quadrangle and a supremely monastic air, Magdalen (pronounced: "maud-lin") is one of the most impressive of Oxford's colleges and attracts its most artistic students. Alumni include such diverse people as Cardinal Wolsey, P.G. Wodehouse, Edward Gibbon, Oscar Wilde, Dudley Moore, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter. The school's large, square tower is a famous local landmark. A stroll around the Deer Park and along Addison's Walk is a good way to appreciate the place.

Definitely the best of Oxford's many colleges to visit. Has a very nice chapel, several striking towers, and an extensive park and grounds to walk in. As with all Oxford Colleges, be prepared for the possibility of it being closed to visitors with no prior notice.
