Dorchester Abbey

Fodor's Review:

In addition to secluded cloisters and gardens, Dorchester Abbey has a spacious church (1170) with traceried medieval windows and a lead baptismal font. The great tower was rebuilt in 1602, but incorporated the old 14th-century spiral staircase. If you climb the tower you can take in sweeping views of verdant pastures, graceful willows, and water meadows. The abbey is a popular concert venue.
