Fodor's Review:

One of the university's best known and oldest colleges (dating to 1379), New College stands alongside New College Lane, known for its Italianate Bridge of Sighs. Its grounds are big and enticing, with acres of soft green grass and pristinely maintained gardens. The college buildings, in ivory stone, are partly enclosed by the medieval city wall, and feature one of the city's best displays of Gothic gargoyles. Famous alumni include the actors Hugh Grant and Kate Beckinsale.

This college, along with several others, was closed without notice the day I visited Oxford. Apparently this is not unusual among Oxford University's colleges. The gatekeeper did let me peek inside for a couple minutes, which is more than I can say for the gatekeepers at Merton, University, Queen's, or Corpus Christi, ALL of which were closed that day. Utterly ridiculous.
