Walk the Chilterns

Walk the Chilterns

Part of the Chiltern Hills is an Area of Outstanding Beauty (www.chilternsaonb.org), a nature reserve that stretches over 320 square mi, taking in chalk hills, valleys, forests, lakes, and pretty towns. Its springtime bluebell woods are famed for their soft blue carpets of flowers, and its autumn colors are glorious. You'll likely drive in and out of the Chilterns as you explore the area, or you could walk part of the circular 124-mi Chiltern Way. A 13-mi section of the path starts in Henley, runs north through the Hambleden Valley, and returns to Henley via the Assendons.
