Fodor's Review

Theatergoers tucking into an early supper to the strains of the grand piano in the Blue Bar, grandmothers enjoying afternoon tea in the Library, and couples lingering over their candlelit suppers can all happily be found here. Plush armchairs, red drapes, and oil paintings add to the intimacy and refinement of this 18th-century town house. The chef aims to keep flavors to the fore and uses local produce in such dishes as oat-crusted calves' liver with smoked garlic mash and spinach or grilled haddock with parsley and Parmesan crumb. There's an excellent choice of cheeses. You could finish with a glass of port in one of the dozen bedrooms, should you wish to linger.
