Fodor's Review:
This luxurious Victorian Gothic mansion with a modern wing, built on land owned by the Shirley family since the 12th century, is a peaceful retreat for theatergoers who don't want to cope with Stratford's crowds. Some of the individually decorated rooms have four-poster beds; you can also choose the unusual Kingmaker and Shakespeare suites. The oak-panel restaurant (fixed-price menu; £££££) offers extremely good modern British cuisine. For a break, take tea or a whisky in antiques-filled public rooms or stroll in the 40-acre grounds, which contain the ruins of a 12th-century church.

Faulty Towers LIVES!
Posted by Stanley from Los Angeles on 10/30/06
The exterior is an impressive old structure dating back over 300 years old. The grounds are exquisite. The interior has some interesting details, but it's extremely expensive for flea market furniture, worn fabrics, disinterested service and pretensious and not very good food (couldn't eat the dinner served). They would really like to be 5 star (they charge for it) but they're barely a 3 star B&B. Having just come from the Savoy in London at the same price, this is a disppointment.
