Fodor's Review

The Royal Festival Hall is one of London's best spaces for large-scale choral and orchestral works and is home to the Philharmonia and London Philharmonic orchestras. The Queen Elizabeth Hall is a popular venue for top-tier soloists, and the Purcell Room is known for chamber music recitals. Free events take place in foyer spaces around the complex. Southbank hosts everything from the London International Mime festival to large-scale dance performances, plus highly regarded pop, rock and jazz acts. Also part of the complex is the Hayward Gallery (Monday noon–6; Tuesday, Wednesday, and weekends 11–7; Thursday and Friday 11–8), a landmark 1960s building and one of London's best contemporary art venues.
