The Mall Tavern

The Mall Tavern Review

It's all things unapologetically British at this embracing 1856 Notting Hill gastropub, which overflows with relaxed but discerning locals. Check out the Coronation mugs, royal wedding, and Prince Charles and Lady Diana crockery and memorabilia after sampling some great British bar snacks, like pork scratchings, brawn (head cheese), or lop-eared sausage rolls. Move through to dine on chef Jess Dunford Wood's hearty cow pie with bone marrow poking through the crust, or wallow in '70s nostalgia with chicken Kiev, macaroni cheese, or high-quality fish fingers, mushy peas, and tartare sauce. There's old-school Artic Roll ice cream, "Hello to the Queen!" glacé bananas with hot chocolate sauce, and some strong farmhouse cheeses, like Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire, and Shorrock's Bomb. Note the bargain £10 lunches from Tuesday to Friday.
