Modern British game doesn't get any better—or more inventive—than at this exceptional gastropub and game-lovers' paradise off Fulham Broadway. Enthusiast and co-owner Mike Robinson shoots and bags all the wild venison on the menu here in season (the 2-star Aussie chef Brett Graham is another co-owner), and you'll find a catalogue of awesome game-based dishes like haunch of Berkshire roe deer with tarragon mustard or North Yorkshire grouse with Earl Grey-soaked prunes. Tuck into game pie with Somerset cider jelly or Herdwick lamb with rosemary curd in a relaxed comfy-sofas-and-newspapers Sloaney-pub type setting. A number of fine dishes are served on a slab of wood, and there are popular carve-your-own whole-roast beef, lamb, or pork joints for the table—and, yes, you can ask for doggy bags on the way out!
