L'Oranger Review
Very discrete, very plush, very intimate, L'Oranger's French haute cuisine reaches gobsmacking heights at this swanky spot in St. James's. Whether you opt for scallops and white truffles, sea bass with girolles, fillet beef Rossini, or the chocolate souffle with apricot sorbet, the precision and perfection of the kitchen is nicely on show. Don't look for fireworks in the decor, but the charming dining room—beige walls, brown chairs, bright art and flowers—and a hidden conservatory are both hushed and reassuringly attractive. Service is straight-backed and formal, just the way the well-bred courtiers (from nearby royal residence Clarence House) and business barons who revel here like it.
