Vintage Chairman Mao posters and Communist Party paraphernalia decorate the walls of this handy hole-in-the-wall Sichuan café on a busy side street in Chinatown. Baozi steamed buns—pork and onion, or shrimp and radish—are house specials, and there's dragon wonton broth, Dan Dan noodles with mustard greens and sesame paste, or Chengdu pork dumplings with chili oil. Top choices include the ginger juice spinach and the Peace and Happiness noodle soup, topped with duck and Chinese toon tree shoots. Tables are cramped, prices are low, turnover is fast, and customer service is bang! bang! bang!
