One of the best bargains in Bloomsbury, this family-run hotel has singles as low as £45 and doubles as low as £55. Rooms are small and the look is dated, but they're definitely good value. Some rooms have a private shower but no toilet (you share one down the hall); others have both. All rooms have a TV, all guests have access to free Wi-Fi, and tea/coffeemakers are available on request. It's not fancy, but it certainly is cheap. Pros: low price; great location. Cons: decor's a bit old-fashioned; no frills here.

We sampled two ensuite rooms in February due to our split city itinerary. Both were full ensuite. Everything in both rooms seemed new and shiny. Nothing threadbare and shabby to be seen. Coffee/tea making in the rooms. 19" lcd tvs. Indications of upgrading happening in the hallways.
The location is up and coming. The 'ladies' are gone from Euston street. The citylink train to Gatwick runs from St Pancras now, as does the Eurostar. Five tube lines merge in Kings Cross, including the Picadilly line to Heathrow. The number 10 bus runs down the length of Oxford Street, around Hyde Park to Knightsbridge.
