An independent bookstore chain (there are additional branches in Belsize Park, Chelsea, Hampstead, Holland Park, and Cheapside), Daunt favors a thoughtful selection of contemporary and classic fiction and nonfiction over self-help books and ghost-written celebrity "autobiographies." It is especially noted for its travel selection, which includes not only guidebooks but also relevant poetry and literature organized by country, and childrens' books. The striking Marylebone branch is an original Edwardian bookstore where a dramatic room lined with oak galleries under lofty skylights houses the travel section. Meanwhile, biographies and fiction are piled on tables at the entrance for eclectic browsing.
