Top-notch neighborhood dining doesn't get much better than this. In outlying Chiswick, La Trompette has a serious west London following that goes gaga for the elegant food and chic surroundings. A £37.50 dinner might impress with goujons (thin breaded strips) of plaice, shoulder of lamb, or red mullet with risotto. The desserts live up to the mains and the sommelier is charm personified.
