Tavistock Hotel

Fodor's Review:

This big, sprawling hotel off Russell Square makes for a convenient and affordable base from which to explore the British Museum and London's West End. The rooms are small and simply furnished, but clean and quiet with tea/coffeemakers. The hotel itself has plenty of amenities, including a relaxed bar and restaurant. Although it has an amazing art deco foyer, it won't win any style awards, but it's a solid choice when money is an issue. Pros: affordable option in a great location near the British Museum. Cons: it's huge and a bit old-fashioned; the elevators are creaky.
