Bullsy French cuisine, faultless service, a winning wine list, and a glossy and upbeat local neighborhood vibe make for one of London's all-time favorite celebration restaurants. Take a cab or overland train south of the river to chef Bruce Poole's cozy haunt overlooking Wandsworth Common and expect wonders ranging from delicious offal to lighter, simply grilled fish dishes. Pot roast pig's cheek with polenta, pollack with wild mushrooms, and bream with orange vinaigrette are all immaculately presented. The desserts and wines are great, the sommelier's superb, and, pound-for-pound, Bruce is nigh impossible to beat.
