By day, nothing but business suits buzz through the area between Holborn and Clerkenwell. By night, though, the ties are loosened and it's all oh-so-trendy. One of London's latest "it" hotels, Zetter reflects both personalities. The dizzying five-story atrium, art deco staircase, and slick European restaurant are your first indications of what to expect at this converted warehouse: a breath of fresh air (and a little space) in London's mostly Victorian hotel scene. Rooms are smoothly done up in soft dove gray and vanilla fabrics, and the views of the city from the higher floors are wonderful. It's all lovely to look at, although its prices have been climbing lately. Pros: big rooms; lots of gadgets; free broadband in rooms. Cons: recently increased prices mean this place is no longer a bargain; rooms with good views cost more.

We were looking for contemporary and comfortable hotel that was not going to break the bank and we found the Zetter Hotel through a great little website of InStyle Hotels, great reviews, images, customer support and the best room rates anywhere. We found the Zetter to strays away from traditional hotel designs and philosophies and offers a more hip and fashionable design. The hotel was light and airy with a feeling of charm. The service was very professional yet casual and informal, with the hotels young staff making for a relaxing experience. We found rooms to be moderately sized (typical of London) and decorated in the minimalist style with understated wallpaper art. However, the rooms have the latest in entertainment technology including an extensive musical library of a 4000 track DVD/CD player. Also, the rooms feature flat screen televisions equipped with satellite channels and movies on demand that allowed us to check e-mails and surf the net via broadband. We travel a lot for business and I would have to say that beds at the Zetter are exceptionally comfortable. Food is available throughout the day, unlike other hotels. Located in the Clerkenwell district means there are less tourists and more business and local clientele. However there are still plenty of tourist attractions close by including St. Pauls Cathedral, The British Museum, and the Barbican Arts Center. We found the Zetter is a good choice and we got the best room rates at Instyle Hotels, another great discovery!
