Fodor's Review

It's all fin de siècle Vienna and The Radetsky March at this magnificent art deco–style take on an all-day Viennese grand café and coffeehouse on the Aldwych. Dine like Emperor Franz Joseph I on a majestic 60-item menu that would do the dual-monarchy and Austro-Hungarian Empire proud. Dishes are von Trapp fabulous—think Wiener schnitzels, Hungarian goulash, and würstchen frankfurters and hot dogs, served with sauerkraut and onions. There are other goodies like borscht and beef Stroganoff, kedgeree, and sour lamb shank sauerbraten. Desserts delight, too, including apfelstrudel and an evocative three-peaked Salzburg soufflé, while the innocuous "Kinder" ice cream coupe is a blowout knickerbocker bursting with meringue, marshmallows, and whipped cream. Classy Viennese breakfast, brunch, Viennoiserie konditorei pastries, and afternoon teas are also served, and be sure to discover the hidden café within the café to reminisce about times past.
