Fodor's Review

It's nonstop Cockney banter and all-day full English breakfasts at this tiny 1900 Grade II–listed family-run greasy spoon near the East End's great Brick Lane and Columbia Road street markets. With atmospheric stained glass, chrome-lined Vitrolite panels, Formica tables, art deco marquetry, and signed pics of East Enders TV soap stars, it's a rowdy hole-in-the-wall for the greasy "fry-ups" that the British still adore: eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding, tea, and bubble-and-squeak (cabbage and mash). Matriarch "Mama" Maria also rustles up Toscana spaghetti and lasagna, plus steamed sponge- and bread pudding. Your arteries may clog up, but at least the wallet survives. Everything's less than £8.70, but remember this is the East End, and hence it's "Cash only, Maaate!!"
