Opened in 2012, this huge museum is devoted to one of the biggest British exports of all time—football (soccer), the English national sport and the most popular team game in the world. This striking, glass-skinned triangle of a building includes a galaxy of footballing memorabilia, from historic trophies, souvenirs, and shirts (many of them signed by legends of the sport) to such near-sacred items as the ball from the 1966 World Cup—the last time England won the sport's
ultimate prize. Other exhibits explore football's role in British popular culture. In the interactive Football Plus zone you can pick up a microphone and develop your commentary style or test your ball skills in a range of activities, including a tense penalty shoot-out.
