Chef Patrick Hannity's unstuffy restaurant offers a seductive British menu with a hint of northern bohemia in the leafy suburb of West Didsbury. Expect local Barnsley lamb chop served with minted peas, or duck breast and leg confit with plum and ginger compote. If you don't mind eating between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, the early-evening two-course menu (available daily) is a superb value at £15. Reservations are essential (a week in advance if possible).
