Buxton Museum and Art Gallery

Buxton Museum and Art Gallery Review

On the eastern side of the Slopes, this museum contains a collection of Blue John, a colorful, semiprecious mineral found only in the Peak District (the name comes from bleu jaune—literally "blue yellow"—a term supposedly coined by visiting French mineworkers). There are also displays of local archaeological finds and pieces made from Derbyshire black marble, and a small art gallery.
