Lancashire and the Peaks Sights

Royal Exchange

Royal Exchange Review

Throughout the city's commercial heyday, the most important building was the cotton market. Built with Victorian exuberance in 1874, the existing structure accommodated 7,000 traders. The giant glass-dome roof was restored after a 1996 IRA bombing. Visit to see the lunar module-inspired Royal Exchange Theatre, have a drink in the café, and browse the crafts shop or the clothes outlets in the arcade.
