Grantchester Review

This little village 2 miles up the river is a delightful walk or bicycle ride from the center of Cambridge along a signposted riverside path through the Grantchester Meadows. It was put on the map by its famous son, the World War I poet Rupert Brooke, whose line "Stands the church clock at ten to three? And is there honey still for tea?" is from his poem "The Old Vicarage, Grantchester." You also can reach the village enjoyably, if challengingly, by punting upstream along the Cam.

a walk well spend in the drizzle

The walk was enchanting but the town of Grantchester even more so. A must is tea at the Orchards just the same as Rupert Brooks and his crowd and the village church immortalized in his poem. The walk is quite simple and direct from the back of Kings college and is close to the center of the town and University. It is definitely a must see for all visitors to Cambridge.
