Fodor's Expert Review Guinea House

16 Bolton St., Lavenham, Suffolk, CO10 9RG, England

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Still a private home after 600 years, Guinea House attracts travelers seeking more authenticity than your average B&B. Rooms have exceptionally comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Bill and Gillian Delucy are warm hosts with an encyclopedic knowledge of the area and are happy to help with planning day trips and booking restaurants for evening meals. Gillian's breakfasts are hearty and filling, although you have to be precise about when you want them (no wandering down early). There's no obvious sign or number on the outside of Guinea House; it's the bright-pink building on the corner of Bolton Street and Lower Road.
