Bus Tours

City Sightseeing operates open-top bus tours of Cambridge—the Backs, the colleges, the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, and the Grafton shopping center. Tours start from Cambridge train station but can be picked up at marked bus stops throughout the city. Buy tickets from the driver, the City Sightseeing office at Cambridge train station, or the Cambridge Tourist Information Centre for £8. Tours run mid-April-September, every 15 minutes, and October to mid-April, every 20 or 30 minutes. From June to the first week of September, hourlong tours run through Colchester daily from 10 to 6 for £5. Tours depart from the castle hourly. The 45-minute Norwich tour starts at St. Peter's Street outside City Hall, with several pick-up points. Tours (£6) run April-through October and leave on the hour from 10 to 4.

Walking Tours

Qualified guides for walking tours of the major towns, including Bury St. Edmunds, Cambridge, Ely, Colchester, Norwich, and Lincoln, can be booked through the respective tourist offices. Those in Cambridge are particularly popular; book well in advance for tours (£8) that depart at 1:30 year-round and more frequently in summer. Ninety-minute audio tours of Lavenham are available for rental from the Lavenham Pharmacy, 99 High Street for £3.
