Modern British cuisine is the draw at this popular spot overlooking Lavenham's picture-book main square. The specialty of the house -- home-smoked fish -- earns rave reviews. You can also just sit a spell at the scrubbed pine tables to enjoy one of the local beers on tap. Eight guest rooms are available, for about £75.
