Victoria at Holkham

Fodor's Review:

A colorful, whimsical hideaway, the Victoria is adjacent to Holkham Hall and owned by the current earl of Leicester. Guest rooms and public areas mix Victorian, colonial, and local themes, all with a touch of Asia. The ornately carved dark-wood furniture was handmade in India for the hotel. In the restaurant you can try game dishes and local seafood such as Cromer crabs, Brancaster mussels, and unusually good fish-and-chips. The dune-backed Holkham Beach (where the ending beach scene from Shakespeare in Love was filmed) is only a few minutes' walk away.
