Bath and the Cotswolds Restaurants

Hole in the Wall

Hole in the Wall Review

Escape from Bath's busyness at this relaxed eatery serving sophisticated modern English fare in an 18th-century town house. At the bottom of a flight of stairs, the unfussy, stone-tile dining area—warmed by a generous open fire in winter—exudes calm and poise. (The piped-in music can be intrusive, however.) It's a great environment to indulge in such dishes as roasted guinea fowl with mushroom and truffled leek pie. While you wait for your order, nibble on the complimentary freshly baked bread. Lunches and pretheater meals are a good value.
