Owlpen

Prince Charles described the beauty spot of Owlpen, an off-the-beaten-path hamlet, as "the epitome of the English village." First settled in Saxon days as Olla's Pen (meaning "valley"), the village centers on a church, a Tudor manor house, and pearl-gray stone cottages, all set against a hillside. A graceful grouping of tithe barns, garden buildings, and a gristmill softens the seignorial bearing of the manor house.
