Number 1 Royal Crescent

Fodor's Review:

The majestic arc of the Royal Crescent, much used as a film location, is the crowning glory of Palladian architecture in Bath; Number 1 offers you a glimpse inside this splendor. The work of John Wood the Younger, the 30 houses fronted by 114 columns were laid out between 1767 and 1774. A house in the center is now the Royal Crescent Hotel. On the corner of Brock Street and the Royal Crescent, Number 1 Royal Crescent has been turned into a museum and furnished as it might have been in the 18th century. The museum crystallizes a view of the English class system—upstairs all is elegance, and downstairs is a kitchen display.
