A Greek-revival (19th-century) mansion in a majestic setting on a hill southeast of the city holds the first museum of American decorative arts to be established outside the United States. Some galleries are furnished rooms (bedrooms, parlors, and a morning room), and others contain objects—in silver, pewter, and glass, for example—dating from the 17th to 19th centuries. Several rooms are devoted to folk art, Native American culture, and quilts. The parkland includes a reproduction of George Washington's garden at Mount Vernon.
