A well-done magnet for visitors, this popular spot near Bath Abbey occupies the oldest house in Bath, dating to 1482. It's famous for the Sally Lunn bun (served here since 1680), actually a light, semisweet bread. You can choose from more than 40 sweet and savory toppings to accompany your bun, or turn it into a meal with such dishes as trencher pork (served with bread that holds the juices) with sherry and brandy sauce. Daytime diners can view the small kitchen museum in the cellar (free, 30p for nondining visitors).

A fun place, historic, good food and good prices. What's not to like?
