Don't be put off by the 10-minute uphill walk from the center of Bath -- you'll be rewarded by a wonderful prospect of the city from the upper stories of this Georgian guesthouse. Cool pastels and traditional furnishings decorate the rooms attractively, and there are open fires in winter and a lush garden for spring and summer. Rooms 3 and 5 have the best views; Nos. 11 and 12 open straight onto the garden. If the full English breakfast is too daunting, indulge in coffee and croissants in bed.
