Fodor's Review:

At the heart of the monumental Royal Crescent, this lavishly converted house is an architectural treasure, with prices to match. The furnishings are consistent with the building's period elegance, and a Palladian villa in the garden provides extra lodging. If some bedrooms are on the small side, the ample luxuries, including a pampering spa, compensate. The hotel's superb Pimpernel's restaurant (£45-£55 fixed-price dinner menus) has won consistent praise for modern British fare incorporating influences from Europe and the Far East. You can dine alfresco in summer.

For History and Literature Lovers

Is this hotel worth the money? Yes, if you're a history and literature lover. How can you need be interested in staying at this famous location? And the service was certainly all that you could expect and more. If only the rooms were up to the high standards set by the staff. Decor is dated, and there's an overwhelming scent of potpourri. So if you're into "early English country house", this is the place for you.

I don't understand. This hotel should be one of Fodor's choice picks. This is easily one of the very best hotels in england. I have now been there four times and the place is just superb. Sure it is expensive, but worth every penny. I'm trying to think of at least one fault, but I honestly can't.
