Valdemars Slot (Valdemars Castle) Review

Troense is Tåsinge's main town, and one of the country's best-preserved maritime villages, with half-timber buildings and their hand-carved doors. South of town is Valdemars Slot, dating from 1610, one of Denmark's oldest privately owned castles, now owned and run by Caroline Fleming. You can wander through almost all of the sumptuously furnished rooms, libraries, and the candlelit church. There's also an X-rated 19th-century cigar box not to be missed. A yachting museum explores Denmark's extensive yachting history. There are also toy and trophy museums within the castle.
