The grande dame of Copenhagen welcomes royalty, politicians, and rock stars—from Margaret Thatcher to Madonna—in palatial surroundings: an imposing New Georgian facade leads into an English-style sitting room. Standard guest rooms are furnished in pastels, with overstuffed chairs and a mix of modern and antique furniture. The spit-and-polish staff accommodates every wish. The elegant Restaurant D'Angleterre serves excellent French cuisine. In winter the square in front of the hotel is converted into a skating rink.

Stayed here after our return from our Baltic Cruise and have to say the location is the best in Copenhagen. Be sure to get a room overlooking the Square as the view is delightful. The rooms are in need of a bit of updatingand this dowager of the city needs a little bit of perking up, but we very much enjoyed our stay. The cafe downstairs is a great place to sit, have a drink and light food and people watch. The hotel has a very good gym and the staff is extremely helpful and attentive. Would definitely return to this property.
