Fodor's Review:

Carsten's Guest House is a popular guesthouse which offers rooms (DKr 420-DKr 550), a bed in the youth hostel (DKr 165), or a holiday apartment (DKr 850-DKr 1,250) in the middle of town. Breakfast is an extra DKr 65.

Similar findings to the other reviewer. I found the owner to be very unwelcoming - from the point of arrival when we stood outside the door for five minutes not knowing if anyone was there. The room was OK, but not particularly clean on closer examination - the same goes for the bathroom areas.

Everything just seemed to be a massive incomvenience to Carsten - on the first day we enquired about the breakfast (which is not included in the room price). 69K for breakfast for one person is pretty expensive, but you do get quite a lot. We asked if it was OK to share a tray between two - and although they seemed OK with this, the next morning he didn't seem all that impressed.

The breakfast at Carsten's would be funny if you were watching it on a sitcom - oozing with passive-aggressive charm. No pleasantries from our host - just food thrown onto the table in a random order. If there are others staying at the same time as you, expect to be sharing with them - and portions not particularly increased.

Me and my partner stayed in a double room for four nights over a weekend, and the room was entered only once for cleaning by staff as far as we could tell. The bed was never touched, and we were given clean (very thin and small) towels once. The bin wasn't emptied the whole time we stayed there.

Won't be going back to Carsten's and wouldn't recommend it to anyone - avoid.

We chose this place because of location, price and good reviews. Their website said there would be a fridge/minibar in the room but our room didn´t have one so we kept the food in the kitchen fridge. So, when coming out and getting our food one of the owners said we had to pay for it. The other said "send her home". And I said it was our own food. No reply. I found the situation to be very awkward so later on I went back to them and asked them if it was a problem for them that we kept our food in the fridge (in a kitchen they say is free to use) and they said no but that we need to put our names on it. No apologize or anything.
I find it pretty rude that they suspect us of stealing food, and just took it for granted that we did. Plus that when we explained it was our own and asked if we could keep it in the fridge, there was no sign of them having misunderstood or jumped to conclusions. That is not guesthouse behavior to me, not friendly. Especially when it could have been solved by having the fridge/minibar in the room that they advertised.
We would not stay there again. Even with the price and location we found it very uncomfortable to be accused of stealing, and not even get a friendly smile in return when it was sorted out. In addition the room´s mattress was just "basic" clean under the bed sheet so kind of yucky. Lots of other options that are better and friendlier and cheap.
