In a wing of the Royal Library, this national center of Jewish culture, art, and history opened in June 2004. Objects of both secular and religious interest are on display, including paintings, prints, jewelry, scrapbooks, films, and much more. The site was designed by Daniel Libeskind, the architect behind the winning design proposal for the World Trade Center memorial in New York City. The museum also gives extensive coverage to the Danish resistance movement, whose work during World War II helped bring nearly all of Denmark's 7,000 Jews to safety in Sweden. The museum is the first minority museum in the country.
