Charlie's Bar insists that there are other beers in Copenhagen besides the omnipresent Carlsberg and Tuborg, and serves more than 46 draft and bottled beers to prove it. You can sample a handful of Danish microbreweries or Hoegaarden beer from Belgium. Indeed, there's no better place to enjoy such diversity than at this bar, which calls itself "proudly independent, independently proud" because it doesn't kowtow to the two big Danish brands. The dark room with low ceilings, owned by a transplanted Scotsman, is refreshingly unpretentious, with a laid-back crowd of regulars, both locals and expats.
